Celebrating National Nonprofit Day: honoring the power of best interest advocacy
August 17 marks National Nonprofit Day. For this special day, we recognize and celebrate the incredible work of fellow nonprofit organizations across the country. At the National CASA/GAL Association for Children, we are proud to stand among the many nonprofits making a lasting impact in communities nationwide.
Our mission is challenging and powerful: to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive.
There are over 79,000 dedicated CASA/GAL volunteer advocates who continue to be the heart of our mission and vision. These compassionate individuals donate countless hours to speak up for children who have experienced abuse or neglect to ensure their voices are heard in court and their best interests are prioritized.
Their commitment is a testament to the strength of community-driven change. Every hour volunteered is a step toward a brighter future for a child in need.

Become a CASA or GAL volunteer
- Join our network and advocate for a child’s best interests in court. Volunteers are trained and supported every step of the way.
- Your financial support helps us recruit, train, and retain volunteers across the country.
Find a local program or state organization
- Contact a local program or state organization near you to support through donations or by volunteering your time.
- Many companies offer donation matching programs; check with your employer to double your impact.
Spread awareness
- Share our mission on social media, in your workplace, or with friends and family. Awareness leads to action.
- Contact your local representatives to support legislation that strengthens child welfare and CASA/GAL programs.
